High churn rates have fostered the development of predictive modeling strategies to help carriers understand, and then stem, the tide of defection. The information revolution is bringing telecom power to virtually every corner of the planet. From Dublin to Delhi and from Manhattan to the sprawling expanse of the Australian outback, subscribers by the millions are signing up for coverage, cell phones and the next wave of services. Each of these international markets presents a unique cultural and business challenge, but one looming crisis unites telco providers from one end of the Earth to the other: Customers are defecting. Both the rate and cost of global churn are on the rise.
