Tele2 breaks convention with pan-European Skype clone

Tele2 has become the first PSTN-based operator to launch a stand-alone VoIP service similar to Skype that will exist independently of its other business lines. The Parlino service will act as a wholly owned subsidiary of Tele2 but will - for now at least - be promoted independently of the pan-European alternative operator's core fixed-line businesses. The move marks a departure from the model used by most other network operators, whose VoIP offerings are tied to their PSTN or broadband services.
