Ethernet operators to up the IPTV ante in Poland

Poland's small Ethernet LAN operators have reportedly formed a body to coordinate their activities so they can offer services beyond pure broadband connectivity. The operators provide 1.4 million broadband subscriptions in Poland, or 30%, via ad-hoc fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks, but have thus far limited their offerings to plain Internet access. The Chamber of Ethernet Communication (CEC), which will represent operators responsible for 250,000 FTTH ports, will pave the way for the networks to support IPTV, says Polish national broadcaster TVN.
