"Commercial interests generally display thensame shortsighted and unsustainable attitudes toward state and municipal government. Mostncomments from commercial operators regard state and local governments as obstaclesnrequiring federal preemption rather than as potential partners in developing innovativensolutions." This approach of clearing more spectrum is "unsustainable in the long term," thengroup said. "A sustainable approach to spectrum management must recognize thesenlegitimate federal and local government interests while simultaneously providing enhancednspectrum access for increased commercial need and fostering a diverse and competitivencommercial wireless sector," Public Knowledge said.
