STRICKLING CONFIRMED AS NTIA ADMINISTRATOR

Along with confirmations of Julius Genachowski and Robert McDowell to become FCC commissioners, the Senate also approved Larry Strickling as NTIA administrator, as senators left Washington for the July 4th recess. The White House, meanwhile, nominated Meredith Baker and Mignon Clyburn to join Genachowski, McDowell and Michael Copps on the FCC. The nomination papers answered a lingering question: Baker, replacing Kevin Martin, will get the shorter term, through June 2011. Clyburn replaces Deborah Tate and her term will expire in 2012.
