Qwest said the trends in its landline business and revenue from corporate customers were consistent with those the previous quarter. All its business units performed in line with expectations and maintained cost controls, the telco said, but it gave no figures. Qwest's performance is expected to be almost the same this year as in 2008, CEO Ed Mueller said. Loss of access lines will continue in 2009 because of the tough economy and wireless substitution, he said, and there will be pressure on the consumer access line business. In wholesale, Qwest will concentrate on improving the profit margin, Mueller said.
