A long-awaited study of whether heavy cellphone use causes tumors of the central nervous system produced no conclusive results, according to a report to be released Tuesday in Geneva. The 10-year Interphone study was done by the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer. It involved more than 12,800 participants, including almost 5,200 with meningioma or glioma tumors, possibly linked to cellphone use. Meningioma is a more common but often benign tumor. Glioma is rarer but malignant. Thirteen countries, not including the U.S., participated in the study.
