Senators Object to House Spectrum Bill

Senators of both parties criticized as “overly prescriptive" parts of a House spectrum bill ndeveloped by Republicans in the Commerce Committee. Chairman John Kerry, D-Mass., of nthe Senate Communications Subcommittee and Sens. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, Mark nWarner, D-Va., and Jerry Moran, R-Kan., made the comments in a letter to Senate Majority nLeader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. They disagreed nwith a proposal in the bill to ban the FCC from setting aside spectrum for unlicensed use or nimposing eligibility conditions on auction participants.
