摘要

'Three...two...one...drop," a pause followed by a hollow clink, and then "1.09." After a moment for recording and perhaps some thought, a student interjects, "that's too fast," naturally rebuffed with a "that's too slow." Finally an inspector shares, "no damage!" (Figure 1.) While seventh graders are working with science and technology standards, reading and writing standards, or mathematical standards, there always seems to be plenty of excitement in the lab. It is rewarding to see the inspired stimulation that develops when standards from several disciplines are incorporated into the technology laboratory―especially after witnessing the students' astonished looks at the beginning of the course when they are told that they will be using math, reading, and writing standards along with science and technology standards.
