摘要

Water has become a valuable commodity. According to the World Water Council, the world's population has tripled in the 20th century. The use of renewable water resources has increased six times. Furthermore, the world's population is expected to increase by another 40-50%. The population growth, in tandem with increased industrialization and urbanization, will result in an increased demand for water (World Water Council, 2010). Learning to filter and treat polluted water to the degree our natural environment is able to maintain balance not only improves our world, but it also develops our understanding of the most productive methods for water purification. These processes then aid in the future development of water treatment procedures. Ultimately, each of these improvements may be applied to meet our world's growing water consumption needs.
