Multiple perspectives redux

As a former operations researcher I still peruse OR/MS Today, so I was intrigued by Vijay Mehrotra's brief article "The Power of Diversity" in the December 2009 issue. The book that is the focus of Mehrotra's interest is Scott Page's "The Difference: How the Power of Diversity Creates Better Croups, Firms, Schools, and Societies". Page is a professor at the University of Michigan and also associated with the Santa Fe Institute. When I read that Page defines diversity in terms of perspectives and heuristics and posits that group diversity trumps individual ability, my own interest perked up.
