IPCC fifth assessment synthesis report: 'Climate change 2014: Longer report': Critical analysis

This report was adopted on November 1st, 2014. It is a dull read and a curious mixture of assertions and recognition - from time to time - of uncertainties. In the latter case there are also the occasional admissions of potential (likely) internal contradictions. The result is unsatisfactory. In this reviewer's opinion it would be more rational to admit uncertainties more openly and consistently, and given the nature of the uncertainties make the case for sound precautionary measures more simply. The report makes virtually no mention of the sub-optimal investments which have followed particularly in the 'modern' biomass/biofuel, wind and solar fields.
