The need to add one or more functionalities in a cost-effective manner and the need to reduce the consumption of expensive raw materials, energy and water (to minimize the impact of a process on the environment and to reduce running costs) are themes that continually find their way onto the pages of this magazine. Plasma treatments potentially offer the solution to both these needs, but, while being an established technology in some industries, the use of plasmas is still not common for the processing of textiles.
