A range of polyurethanes (PUs) that are produced using feedstocks derived from carbon dioxide (CO_2) captured from industrial processes has been developed by Stahl of Waalwijk,The Netherlands.The company says that the PUs, part of its NuVera range, could help manufacturers of coated textiles for such as the fashion, footwear and upholstery industries to reduce the environmental impact of their products. The range - which, in addition to captured carbon, can be produced using feedstocks derived from plant-based biomass such as vegetable oils and sugars - currently comprises four PU resin binders that are available as cosolvent-free water-based dispersions.
