The editor of this book saw that there were gaps in the library literature on digital repositories, specifically on the historical development of, and active research on, digital archives over the past 20 years. A search by this reviewer on WorldCat revealed that this information gap really exists. The purpose of Building Trustworthy Digital Repositories: Theory and Implementation is to fill in this information void and provide a definitive resource for librarians and researchers. The editor, retired archivist Philip C. Bantin, has 40 years of archival and records management experience. Over the past two decades, he has presented numerous times on electronic records management and is the director of the Archives and Records Management specialization at the Indiana University Department of Library and Information Science.
