Storopack is using BASF's Neopor expandable polystyrene (PS) for boxes used in the transport of blood products and organs. Since the latter must be maintained at a constant temperature, organs at 4 degrees C to 8 degrees C, and platelet at room temperature, good thermal insulation is essential. Storopack molds Neopor, which comes in the form of small black beads, into silver-grey foam blocks and shapes.
