A research team from Northwestern University and Princeton University has developed a novel polymer nanocomposite based on its superior thermal and mechanical properties. The polymer embeds functionalized, exfoliated graphene sheets and is capable of conducting electricity. The researchers intend to leverage the electrical conducting property to develop stable, optically transparent conducting polymers. The polymers are likely to be used in devices ranging from airplanes to solar cells.
