The role of packaging in the food industry is an important and ever growing division. Packaging functions to protect the foods and keep them in good condition during the transport, storage, and throughout the distribution process. The primary functions of packaging are: to hold the food and offer protection to the food; must preserve the original quality of the food; and to protect by reducing mechanical damage to the food.
