Making glass-paneled cabinet doors

Whether they're used in the kitchen, the den, or the library, glass-paneled cabinet doors represent a step up in style and craftsmanship. Building these doors involves some careful joinery, but the tools aren't complicated; you just need a tablesaw, a router table, a cope-and-stick bit set, and a round-over bit. The radius of the roundover bit needs to match the radius (typically 1/4 in. or 3/8 in.) of the roundover portion of the cope-and-stick bits. My doors are built with 2(1/2)-in.-wide stiles and rails, but rather than construct the doors with true divided lites, I install a single sheet of glass with muntins applied to the front side. This simplified joinery and a couple of assembly tricks make door construction a fairly quick process.
