The report presents a project of a large-scale method for identifying volume of forest object. Such object can comprise e.g. forests of the whole country or individual regions. The method is based on layer random sampling. Age and main stand-forming species are grounds for establishment of layers. The method requires the knowledge on acreage of each stand being the component of a forest object, its location within the area, stand age, and species composition. Such information is contained in the database of the Informations System of Stante Forests. The method has been conceived in such a way that application of growth models be possible. This allows enlarge Considerably the range of forest object features, i.a. volume increment.
