Momentum appears to be gaining for solutions that use bar codes to link articles and ads in newspapers and magazines to specific Website pages on the Internet. Last year, in October, ID Systems was among the first publications to adopt this strategy, implementing JumpTech.com's (Minneapolis, MN; www.jump tech.com) JumpCode technology within its pages. With JumpCode, you can scan a bar code at the end of an article, using a specially designed pen-type scanner from Symbol Technologies (Holtsville, NY; www.symbol. com). Later, the scanner is connected to a Web-enabled PC, taking you directly to a Website link for additional information.
