Archimede to produce new receiver type for CSP plants

The Italy based company Archimede Solar Energy Srl just started building a production facility for a new type of receivers for solar power plants in the Italian town of Massa Martana. The Archimede receivers will use molten salt as a heat transfer fluid for parabolic trough based power plants and thus make the plants more efficient.rnAccording to Siemens Energy, an Archimede shareholder, the plant is to start production in early 2011. The initial production capacity will be approximately 75,000 receivers per year. Archimede plans to increase the capacity later to 140,000 receivers.
