Chinese province to build offshore wind farm

In the southern Chinese province - of Guangdong the construction of an offshore wind farm is set to begin this year. This has been reported by the state news agency Xinhua, referring to an announcement made by the electricity supply utility Guangdong Electric Power Development Co. Ltd. The 198 MW farm should be completed and connected to the grid in 2014 and is the first offshore wind energy project in the province. It will be built in the Guishan waters off Zhuhai city. The farm will be constructed with a total investment of US$ 705 million, mainly from China Southern Power Grid Comprehensive Energy Co. Ltd. and Guangdong Electric Power Development.
