In an international comparison, the Czech Republic is one step further than most other nations regarding the introduction of biofuels with a higher potential for CO_2 reduction. According to a legal regulation, there is a tax reduction on motor fuels with a biofuel admixture of over 28 %. Throughout the Czech Republic, almost 300 gas stations now offer gasoline with a high plant-based fuel share. These include B30 and B100 bi-odiesel and E85 ethanol. About 15 medium-sized biodiesel plants already emerged in the Czech Republic in the 90s.
