Researching alongside the industry

The Fraunhofer ISE has been researching PV for over 30 years. In several special laboratories working closely with the industry, the solar cells and modules of the future are being developed. Production technology plays an important role here. The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE) was founded in 1981 in Freiburg as the first of the four major German solar research institutes. The driving force and the first director of the institute was Adolf Goetzberger. What mattered to him from the very beginning was cooperation with the industry.
