Embracing knowledge management capability at a strategic innovation level

Firms who are obsessed with furthering their capacity to innovate are diving to the depths of knowledge management practices, in an attempt to uncover strategic secrets in this arena capable of supercharging a competitive edge. A research paper by Taghizadeh et al. (2020) delves into understanding the organizational knowledge management capability (KMC) of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. The study has three aims: to determine the impact of KMC on the innovation strategy of these SMEs, to determine the effect of internal organizational conditions on their KMC, and finally to discover how the external influence of environmental dynamism affects the relationship between KMC and innovation strategy in these SMEs. Data for the study were gathered from questionnaire responses from 202 SME owners in Malaysia's Klang Valley region, which includes the country's main business center cities like Kuala Lumpur. The scope of knowledge management capability Since great knowledge sharing and knowledge management practices are a reliable source of competitive advantage, the Malaysian government encourages the country's SMEs to develop these qualities in line with the innovation-centric national economic development strategy. This is in response to Malaysian SMEs lagging behind expectations in areas such as technology development and management capability. Hence the manifestation of innovation strategy in the Malaysian SME community is still at an immature stage.
