摘要

Capital construction projects generate massive amounts of data throughout the course of their project lifecycles. Ordinarily, this data is collected and stored in databases providing a historical record of the project. As projects progressively increase in size, so do the associated data sets. Over time, some data sets get handed over to the people responsible for running the asset, referred to as data mining - searching for a recurrence within the data (Ajayi et al., 2016). Some data sets might get picked over by lawyers looking for who to point fingers at as contract issues move through litigation, but for the most part, much of the data sit idly gathering digital dust in cyberspace. This is very unfortunate because "companies deal with petabytes (10~(15) bytes) of data" (Ajayi et a/., 2016), and much of that data should be turned into useful information. Data sets are beneficial to fully use because they will save time, energy, and money for future projects.
