Further progress in clean steelmaking was reviewed by an international forum of experts. Modelling of inclusion formation and separation is much advanced. In ladle metallurgy, magnesia seems to be the new 'enemy' to steel cleanness. On the product side, heavy forgings are a particularly severe test to overall cleanness control, including lowest residual contents.
