Congress sets new benchmark

The 2008 International Astronautical Congress held in Glasgow recently was an outstanding success and a lot of long, hard work of very many people. It would be true to say that we have created a new benchmark, especially in terms of the numbers of delegates attending. We are now the one for others to beat. I should therefore like to thank everyone for their efforts - be they large or small, continuous or just one-off. This Congress was described by the outgoing IAF president Dr Jim Zimmerman as "outstanding" and by a previous President as "the best he could remember". This is praise indeed. The British Interplanetary Society has, over the years, both committed resources to and underwritten the funding required to facilitate this event. We now look forward to reaping the rewards so richly deserved. We have clearly increased our footprint in the international community and indeed enrolled many new members from our busy stand in the exhibition. Thank you all once again.
