It has already been more than three years since the XNAV application running the SEXTANT pulsar navigation software on NASA's NICER mission aboard the ISS (the red arrow in the image above points to the NICER mission) was able to successfully prove that we can use X-ray pulsars for space navigation. A great achievement, which might have gone unnoticed by many.
