Losing Bidders Protest Launch Range Contract Award

Two of the three losing bidders for a U.S. Air Force contract worth as much as $2 billion to support the service's two main launch ranges have filed award protests with the Government Accountability Office. One of the protests has already been denied; the other is pending. On Nov. 6, the Defense Department announced that it had awarded a Raytheon-led team known as Range Generation Next an initial $86.5 million fixed-price-incentive contract to support Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The Air Force says the total potential value of the Launch and Test Range System Integrated Support Contract, or LISC, including all potential options and award fees over 10 years, is $2 billion.
