U.S. Air Force Seeks To Double Funding For T-Sat, Space Radar

Citing revised cost estimates over the past year for two new satellite systems for surveillance and communications, the U.S. Air Force is seeking to double funding for both efforts in 2005. The Space Based Radar and T-Sat satellite communications programs are the among the high-profile space programs in the Air Force's 2005 budget request, which was submitted to Capitol Hill Feb. 2. Senior defense officials said the Air Force did not allocate sufficient funding for T-Sat work last year, and cited both programs as drivers behind the overall increase in military space spending being sought in 2005.
