Some time ago Space News printed an article outlining my opinions with respect to a not widely held belief in mutually assured access (MAA), which pertains to the concept of universal access to space and its information. It is in almost direct opposition to the idea of space control, in which both the medium and its assets (satellites) can experience offensive and defensive operations. Space control also consists of the much more benign aspect Space Situational Awareness (SSA), which I believe is the much more stable position.
