The Australian Submarine Escape and Rescue System (SERS) is a unique capability, even more so when you consider that a small Australian engineering company has produced a range of technologies that world leaders warned them was "unachievable". H.I. Fraser specialises in critical gas and fluid systems with a workforce of around 75, split between its workshops in Perth and Sydney. No strangers to Defence, the company has worked on various elements of submarines and other naval platforms for the past 60 years in addition to international work in the oil and gas and mining sectors. "The SERS equipment we upgraded under the contract was the deck equipment, which includes the hyperbaric suite," H.I. Fraser's general manager east Chris Williams said.
