Growth of Coastal Cable Forces Satellite Operators Inland

Multiple high-capacity fiber-optic cable links are set to arrive on the African coasts in the coming years, promising lower bandwidth costs that satellites are unlikely to be able to match. So satellite operators are moving inland, where communications links remain poor and where economic growth and government policy are still viewed as offering high-potential markets for satellite communications. The eguivalent of several hundred satellite transponders are set for launch over Africa in the coming years.
