摘要

Iridium Satellite LLC expects its second-generation constellation of low-orbiting satellites - to be ordered by June, will be placed into the same orbit as its current spacecraft- having concluded that the orbit is only marginally more risky following the Feb. 10 collision of an Iridium satellite with a retired Russian spacecraft, Iridium Chief Executive Matt Desch said. "We still think that this is a low-probability event," Desch said in a Feb. 26 interview following Bethesda, Md.-based Iridi-um's disclosure of its 2008 financial performance. Iridium reported revenue from its global mobile satellite service of $320.9 million in 2008, up 23 percent over 2007. Net income for the year was $53.9 million, up 23 percent from 2007.
