Nasa Radar Peers Inside Moon's Shadowed Craters

Images from a NASA-funded radar flying aboard India's Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft are giving scientists their first look inside the Moon's permanently-shadowed craters. The images, taken Nov. 17 by a lightweight synthetic aperture radar known as Mini-SAR, cover part of the Haworth crater at the Moon's south pole and the western rim of the Seares crater near the north pole. The instrument is expected to help scientists map and search the inside of craters for water ice.
