Nasa Peeks Inside Moon's Shadowed Craters

For the first time, instrumentation belonging to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has captured images of the permanently shadowed polar craters on the moon, which are not visible from the earth. The images were created using a lightweight synthetic aperture radar system flying aboard India's Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft. They show part of the Haworth crater, located at the moon's south pole, and the western rim of the Seares crater, located near the moon's north pole. The successful data collection is the culmination of more than three years of work; the images will be used by scientists searching for evidence of water ice on the moon.
