When Dennis Tito paid his own way to the International Space Station in 2001 on a Russian Soyuz flight brokered through the aptly named Space Adventures, the space tourism industry was born. While the price paid for Tito's pioneering mission and the ones that followed have not been officially disclosed, published estimates range from $20 million to $50 million.
