European Neighbourhood Policy as a tool for stabilizing Europe’s Neighbourhood

This article aims to analyse one of the most recent external policies of the European Union (EU), the European Neighbourhood Policy. It elaborates in detail on the shortcomings of the policy, in particular its inadequate impact on democratization and stabilization in Ukraine, one of the EU’s most important partners. By applying two main theories of European integration, constructivism and rationalist institutionalism, which analyse international institutions, the article aims to reveal the contradiction between the normative vision of the EU and its security demands.
