Having reviewed the extract of the Army's application guidance notes so kindly provided by the author of "Time to get tough on tattoos" (February), I spotted some irregularities. The letter writer failed to quote the relevant passage correctly or in full. It should have read: "Any tattoos that are offensive, obscene or excessive in size or number may be a bar to entry or re-entry. "Tattoos which are visible on the head, neck and hand may be a bar to entry depending on their size and nature.
