Cyber defence has become so important to national security that a fourth Service may be necessary to help the Armed Forces protect the country, a senior politician has said. Addressing the National Security Summit, Philip Dunne, Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology, compared the issue to the discovery of gunpowder for its implications on future conflict. Having traditionally operated within the domains of land, sea and air, the rise of cyber technology had created a "new frontier" for defence, said Mr Dunne.
