The author discusses some of the problems related to the softwarencrisis. The world needs far more software than we can produce. Clearly,nthe current market demands and the increasing rate of technology changencreate an unrelenting pressure. We face a related crisis in ournworkplace cultures. Many software jobs have such high stress andnpunishing hours that they crush morale, deplete personal lives, andncompromise health. The author considers some solutions to the problemsnof today's software workplace
