Mapping and Interpreting Societal Responses to Genetically Modified Crops and Food

Stirling and Mayer's approach offers a significant new tool for social research on risk and policy-making. In particular, it offers a helpful device for mapping and comparing diverse views on technological risks. It does not preclude other, more conventional ways of divining actors' views, nor is it alone in providing a numerical approach to such mapping. But its advantages are clear enough that other studies can be expected to follow in the methodological wake of this.
