Obituary David Charles Gooding (1947-2009)

David C. Gooding, respected scholar, colleague, and friend of many in the STS community, died on 13 December 2009. In 2002 he was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and he started treatment in 2004. He underwent several courses of chemotherapy, but in 2008 the disease became more aggressive. In 2009 he had an stem cell transplant, which was unsuccessful. David was born in the British Military Zone in Germany in 1947 and later moved with his family to Vancouver. I was next to David on a harbor tour when he described passing under the bridge and seeing Vancouver for the first time at the age of seven.
