SOARING MAIL: LETTERS FROM THE SOARING SOCIETY

The picture on page 26 of the June issue of Soaring seems to show a glider being connected to a tow or winch without a pilot on board. I believe that is neither safe nor allowed. Good catch, Peter. The CAP student pilots in the photo were actually attaching the glider to a golf cart to move it into position, not for launching. We pulled this photo from a different story about a CAP encampment in Texas in order to show CAP members in action, unfortunately without the clarifying photo caption.
