Isaac's and Jordan's and Dillon's and Greg's Great Adventure

Lake Area Techni-cal Institute, a two-year school in South Dakota chosen by the Aspen Institute as one of the top 5 two year colleges in the nation, has an A&P program that recently acquired a 2003 Aeromot Ximango AMT-200 motorglider. The aircraft was located at Holloman AFB, NM. As it worked out, the week of spring break ended up being the right time to go get it. Another organization from California was awarded another one just like it that was located at the same corner of Holloman AFB. Its new owner contacted me to see if we could help him prepare it for a ferry flight since I am rated to fly motorgliders and have an inspection authorization. The stage was set for three A&P students - one pulling extra duty as a flight instructor for the other two who were student pilots - and me to fly to Holloman in the school's 172 to perform the necessary maintenance and inspections to fly the aircraft home. The neat thing about our 172 is that it's actually a military T-41 with a 210 hp Continental IO-360. With all of us and our baggage and equipment we were loaded at maximum gross weight with 3 hours of fuel on board and were still getting climb rates of 700 feet per minute.
