摘要

The Trump administration’s Affordable Clean Energy rule, a proposal to replace an Obama-era environmental regulation on the power sector, was designed to ensure coal continues to be burned to generate electricity in the U.S., the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s acting administrator, Andrew Wheeler, said Sept. 26 at an energy conference in Washington, D.C. “We can’t deny the fact that coal will continue to be a key part of the energy mix both at home and abroad, and rather than punishing coal, we should level the playing field and encourage innovative technology across the energy sector in solar, wind, hydro, oil and gas, nuclear and coal,” Wheeler said at the National Clean Energy Week Policy Makers Symposium. “The ACE rule aims to do just that: To incentivize new technologies that ensure coal plants can be part of a cleaner future.”
