China’s tighter rules on environmental protection will drive costs higherand lead to industry consolidation in four commodity sectors, hurting smallcompanies and benefiting major players, Moody’s Investors Service said in anew report.The rating agency said the number of smaller companies in the coal, steel,petrochemical and nonferrous metal sectors has declined over the past fewyears, as China ramps up its efforts to address environmental issues with morestringent laws, a credit negative for businesses for those sectors.
