Report From Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), Video Services Forum (VSF), and Joint Task Force on Networked Media (JT-NM)

Since the last SMPTE Progress Report, the Joint Task Force on Networked Media (JT-NM) has released a report on cybersecurity testing. It has also published the JT-NM Tested catalogs connected with its Spring 2020 JT-NM Tested event. In February 2020, the JT-NM Cybersecurity Experts Group released its report Cybersecurity Vulnerability Assessment-General Report.i This report is based on vulnerability scanning that was conducted during a JT-NM Tested event held in Wuppertal, Germany, August 2019. At that event, the JT-NM Tested team tested vendors' equipment for compliance with various standards including SMPTE ST 2110 and Networked Media Open Specification (NMOS). In the background, the security team scanned vendors' equipment for security vulnerabilities. The results were shared with the manufacturer of that product, and in partnership with the vendor, the results of the scans were verified manually. In some cases, vendors made adjustments and the systems were rescanned. The security team prepared a public report focusing on key vulnerabilities and recommendations of products, by removing vendor-specific information.
